In 2018, the Subject property, operating under the name “Beyond the Storm”, was rated as one of the top alcohol and drug detox centers in the U.S., providing luxury rehabilitation for athletes, executives and celebrities.
Challenge
The property fell into bankruptcy in 2019. Hilco Real Estate was retained to develop and implement a comprehensive, nationwide plan to reach buyers interested in the property for a variety of future uses, including health treatment recovery retreat, boutique bed & breakfast, wedding/event venue, high-end dude ranch, corporate compound, recreational resort, and private personal getaway.
Result
Though the marketing program launched early in March 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 global pandemic, nearly 100 interested parties inquired about the property, 11 groups personally toured the facility amidst strict travel restrictions, and seven offers were received. The ultimate buyer was a Florida-based substance abuse treatment provider with over 700 beds nationwide and will look to continue using the Subject property for a similar use going forward.
The debt in the case was paid in full.
